Natural Schooling Research Interest Group (RIG)
Being an outdoor learning coordinator or practitioner can sometimes feel like a solitary role. To combat this, Deborah Lambert, co-author of Bloomsbury's National Curriculum Outdoors series and chair of the Natural Schooling Research Interest Group, has established a practitioner network that meets online termly.
These sessions focus on a specific theme, with the current topic being “Addressing Eco-Anxiety through the Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy: A Message of Hope.” This network provides a valuable opportunity for international collaboration and support, helping practitioners share ideas and foster a sense of community in outdoor learning.
The aim of the network group is to:
The group offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals for about an hour after school. There’s no obligation to attend every meeting, allowing you to participate at your convenience.
In addition, Deborah has established networking opportunities in Hampshire, Cornwall and West Devon, with meetings held either in person, where possible, or online, taking advantage of our newfound proficiency with virtual gatherings (!).
Each half term, a host school showcases its outdoor learning space and practices, followed by a practical session focused on innovative ways to bring curriculum subjects outdoors. These sessions provide valuable networking time to enhance your outdoor learning practice, and the best part? It’s absolutely free!
